Everything Beloved Café does is meant to practice living in a process of beloved community. A central part of beloved community is working for justice, health, and respect for everyone, not just a few. To support this every Beloved Café site will hire a paid organizer who helps the local community (a cafe patrons are included in this) organize around local issues. Organizing for structural social change is conceived of as a form of engaged spirituality, an expression of the vision and mission of Beloved Café.
“Rest and laughter are the most spiritual and subversive acts of all.” – Anne Lamott, Plan B: Further Thoughts on Faith
